2024 LOUISIANA SOCIABILITY CARAVAN

We will be hosting a special preconference Sociability Caravan in Louisiana from April 22nd to the 24th.  This caravan will be similar to the one we did in Iowa last June and will mimic the historic Sociability Caravans of old on the Jefferson Highway.

The event will start in Shreveport, Louisiana on the afternoon of Monday, April 22nd and then after an overnight in Shreveport at our selected hotel (Shreveport Hilton), we will proceed south on Tuesday the 23rd down the historic JH route through Louisiana. We will have lunch in historic Mansfield and then have another overnight in Natchitoches with lodging available at several of our historic lodging member partners there.  On Wednesday the 24th, we will head on to the conference and have some special stops along the route in Colfax and Pineville. 

There is no official fee for the caravan and tour, but costs associated with the caravan including food, lodging, etc. will be up to the participants. We will once again have a passport book and guide and some special contests for participants.  This event will be fun for all.

RECENT JEFFERSON HIGHWAY ACTIVITIES:

In February of 2024, Paola Middle School in Paola Kansas became the first school on the JH route to become a designated official Ambassador for the Jefferson Highway and the Jefferson Highway Association. The effort was inspired and moved forward by eighth-grader Ruby Brewer. Brewer is holding a pine to palm sign in front of the new the official sign in this picture. Her social studies teacher Dan Doolitle is nearby. Paola officials joined them for the official dedication event.
